A number of Welsh newspapers run stories after reports of local Witches conducting rituals in the back room of a number of Welsh Taverns.
One Welsh Land Lady makes a report to the local police after throwing out a group of what she reports as "Devil Worshipers" from her pub. It is noted in the Police report that the so called group originally hired a room abover her pub for Choir practice. Upon hearing what she descibed as strange chanting the Land Lady decided to investigate and walked in on a the group dancing around a nude young woman.
The Land Lady told police that due to the group being forced to leave the pub in a hurry the mysterious group had left a nunber of strange items. It is difficult to assertain exactly what the group left but one item that was listed in the original police report was a journal or book with the title "The Tribe of Seren" on the front.
Due to the hype surrounding the incident many locals were worried about so called witches casuing trouble in the area and so the local authorities set up a watch group to keep an eye out for possible "occult activity."
John richards also headed a study group to investigate what was happening on behalf of Bishop of Exeter who was asked to look into matters by a number of Welsh clergy.
With increasing reports of witchcraft made by locals Constable Gethin Jones was sent by London metropolitan police to liaise with the local police force due to his experience in cases relating to "the occult".
All the hype surrounding the reports caught the interest of larger national reporters and the BBC ran a short segment on the trouble with interviews from John Richards, Cecil Williamson and Constable Gethin Jones.
