A small collection of charms are donated from a private collection to the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. These charms are said to be given out to the clients of a number of local Cunning Folk (Witches) to their clients in exchange for money.

The charms vary in size but appear to express the wishes of various people.

One of the charms was found in a chimney in Wales. It is impossible to attribute it directly to any one cunning man but it was found close to where Gruffydd  ap John was known to live.

The charm is clearly based on the well known SATOR square but references Seren. It has also been written using the controversial Welsh rune system known as the Coelbren. If current academic opinion is correct then this dates it to the early 1800s or later. However Welsh historians Alan Wilson and Baram Blackett argue that the runes predate Iolo Morganwg (who is believed to have invented them) and the charm therefore could potentially be older.
